How to Cook Okra
Ingredients needed: Okra, Corn meal mix, 1 egg, milk
Thoroughly mix up the milk and an egg white in a mixing bowl.
Put about 1 ½ cups corn meal mix in another bowl.
Cut up two pounds of okra into little sections.
Soak in milk mix for 10 minutes, and while you're at it
Pre-heat ½ inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet, on medium heat.
After oil is good and hot, batter the soaked okra in the cornmeal mix a little at a time and throw it in the pan. After you fill up the skillet let it cook until it starts to get brown, then turn up the heat to medium high for a couple of minutes to finish it off. Turn the heat back down. Place the okra in a strainer so the oil can drip away, then start your next batch. Try not to overfill the skillet or you will get unevenly cooked okra. Also, don't stir it around too much until after it starts turning brown.
Frozen Okra: You can freeze okra just how it is. I personally can't handle the slimy texture. I've heard you can cook up frozen okra with potatoes and it takes the slime out.
Raw Okra: Some people like okra raw.. it's really not that bad! We like to cut it into 1 inch pieces and put it in salads.
